AUSTIN, TX – MARCH 26: Jon Rahm of Spain tees off on the 2nd hole of his match during the semifinals of the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play at the Austin Country Club on March 26, 2017 in Austin, Texas. (Photo by Richard Heathcote/Getty Images) /

Jon Rahm will be on double duty as the tournament and home favorite. The 23-year-old Spaniard is the lone top-10 ranked player in the field and the obvious choice in this spot.

Rahm will make his tournament debut and second start in Spain as a pro.

He comes in on good form from the PGA Tour. In January, Rahm won the CareerBuilder Challenge and was runner-up at the Tournament of Champions the week prior.

Rahm’s made all five cuts in 2018 and is fresh off a fourth-place finish at the Masters. It was his best finish in a major and showed his potential, even when it was clear he wasn’t completely sharp.

It might not be a birdie fest this week, but Centro Nacional appears to be a relatively straightforward course.

Rahm’s second on the PGA Tour in strokes gained off the tee and is 32nd in strokes gained putting and around-the-green. His 127th mark in driving accuracy may not be over penalized at Centro Nacional, a course without a ton of tree line.

He has plenty of experience at Centro Nacional where he combined his studies and golf for two years at the adjacent prep school.
