NEW DELHI, INDIA – MARCH 11: Matt Wallace of England poses for a picture with the trophy after winning the play off during day four of The Hero Indian Open at Dlf Golf and Country Club on March 11, 2018 in New Delhi, India. (Photo by Matthew Lewis/Getty Images) /

Matt Wallace just never seems to stop climbing. The Englishman, who turns 28 Thursday, has rapidly ascended from the Alps Tour in 2015 to the Challenge Tour in ’16 and the European Tour in ’17.

He had an impressive rookie campaign last year with four top-10s. Wallace has continued his good form into 2018 where he’s made six of seven cuts and won the Hero Indian Open last month, an Asian Tour and Euro Tour co-sanctioned event.

This will be his Open de España debut, though that’s not too relevant in this case as nearly the entire field is seeing Centro Nacional for the first time competitively this week.

Wallace isn’t elite in any one category in 2018, but save for around-the-green, he’s in the positive in all strokes gained categories.

A well-rounded performer like Wallace could be suitable to win here in Spain, especially if poor weather flares up.
