Luke List doesn’t have a sparkling resume at the Texas Open, but this is a case where I’m rolling with his recent form.

He’s clearly a much improved player now than even just last year when he missed the cut. List tied for 46th in 2013 and for 29th in 2016.

He’s halved his world ranking just this year, which was as high as 147th in January. List shook off three missed cuts in a row to begin 2018 by making his next eight cuts in a streak that’s ongoing.

List nearly won the Honda Classic in a playoff against Justin Thomas and was back in contention last week with a T3 at the RBC Heritage.

Toss in a T7 and at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and four more finishes T26 or better, and suddenly List is up to No. 20 in the U.S. Ryder Cup rankings.

List can absolutely crush the ball and always has lots of birdie looks. He’s 17th on Tour in par breakers and sixth in strokes gained tee-to-green.

Even though he didn’t get it done at Harbour Town, List is rightly confident that if he keeps putting himself in contention, good things are going to come.

“You hear a lot of greats talking about keeping knocking on the door. I feel for me whether it’s tomorrow or next week, I feel like it’s going to happen,” List said before the final round at the Heritage. “I’m playing too well for it not to. I’m just going to keep that attitude. I think that will free me up tomorrow.”
