Trophee Hassan II Power Rankings: Top ten on the European Tour
Paul Dunne’s been knocking on the door. Can he break through this week?
The 25-year-old Irishman is coming into his own in his third full season as a professional.
In a pair of PGA Tour stops, Dunne posted a T5 at the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship and a T8 at the Houston Open.
He came back across the pond in his next start to take solo runner-up honors at the Open de España where he contended all week.
"“I hit the ball fantastic, long and straight, so I feel good going into the next few weeks,” Dunne was quoted by the Irish Times. “I’m driving the ball great. For me, if I drive the ball well I feel like I have a chance to win every week. I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing.”"
Dunne won his first event last fall against a solid field at the British Masters and also owns a T19 finish this year in Abu Dhabi.
His history at the Trophee Hassan II isn’t too shabby, either. Dunne tied for 16th in his debut in 2016 and lost in a playoff last year to Edoardo Molinari.
Dunne is seventh in the European Ryder Cup rankings. A win this week could make him all but a lock to become a rookie on the team this fall in Paris.
