These two make for one of the more friendly pairings of the week. The two South Africans grew up playing together with just two years as separation.
We had lots of fun travelling together,” Oosthuizen was quoted by the European Tour in 2011. “I still remember the Junior Worlds we won in Japan. We have some fantastic memories.”
They’ve lived in the same neighborhood in Palm Beach and frequently spend time together off the course.
Oosthuizen/Schwartzel hope their familiarity with each other can overcome a lack of familiarity with the course.
Schwartzel has never played in New Orleans and Oosthuizen made his debut last year, tying for 24th with countryman Branden Grace.
Oosthuizen’s had a solid 2018 with five top-30 finishes. He tied for 12th at the Masters and won his pool at the WGC-Match Play in his last two starts.
Oosthuizen may have to lift Schwartzel up as his younger teammate has made just two cuts in five PGA Tour starts this season.
