Zurich Classic Power Rankings: Picking the top ten teams in New Orleans
These two have one of the tightest bonds of any in this event. Scott Brown, a 34-year-old from Augusta, Georgia, grew up playing with or against Kevin Kisner, a 34-year-old from neighboring Aiken, South Carolina.
“We know each other’s games so well, and we’re comfortable with each other and we know we’re both trying hard,” Kisner said in 2017. “Nobody gets upset at anybody. We know we’re doing the best we can. Looking forward to getting back here next year.”
Their chemistry paid off last year as they reached 27-under together to tie Jonas Blixt and Cameron Smith for first place in regulation and finish four shots ahead of the rest of the pack.
Having to return on Monday for a playoff, Brown/Kisner couldn’t get it done, but are a popular pick to redeem themselves this year.
Kisner may have to shoulder more of the load this week. He has three top-10s and a T28 at the Masters in 2017-18. Brown missed the cut last week at the Texas Open and has yet to place higher than T46 (Honda Classic) this season.
Kisner’s putting (seventh on Tour in strokes gained) will be a big asset and Brown is usually pretty accurate off the tee.
Neither of the two have much positive course history prior to last year’s run as a team. The two combine for three missed cuts and have no finishes higher than T28, which is reason for not slotting them more favorably this week.
