Volvo China Open Power Rankings: Ranking the 10 best in Beijing
Seungsu Han is quickly proving himself around the world. The Korean-born American is a winner on the Japan Tour and is racking up high finishes on the PGA Tour and European Tour.
Han, 31, has two top-10s in Europe, including a T9 last week at the Trophee Hassan II, and a T5 at the PGA Tour’s Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship.
He’s made nine of nine cuts this season and has finished inside the top 30 seven times.
Han is inside the top 90 in the major strokes gained categories. He’s 53rd in greens hit and eighth in putts per GIR. If he’s putting the ball in play, he’s a dangerous player.
Han is 100th in driving accuracy and 192nd in distance. He’ll have to keep it out of the trees to contend this week, but a strong short game is often enough to win on the European Tour.
Jorge Campillo’s closing in on his first career win. The 31-year-old Spaniard doesn’t have a professional win on his Official World Golf Ranking resume, but he’s rolling in high finishes.
Campillo’s finished in the top five in three of his last five starts, was solo runner-up at the Maybank Championship and has made five cuts in a row.
The China Open’s been kind to Campillo. He tied for 34th in his debut at Topwin in 2016 and was T9 last year.
In 2017, Campillo was sixth in putts per GIR. He should be comfortable on this week’s undulating greens as he’s also 15th in strokes gained putting this season.
Pair his putting with his ball striking (14th in GIR), and Campillo is an attractive pick due to his recent form and course history.
