CHARLOTTE, NC – MAY 17: Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland poses with the trophy after his win on the 18th hole during the final round at the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club on May 17, 2015 in Charlotte, North Carolina. (Photo by Streeter Lecka/Getty Images) /

Rory’s had a mixed bag of results in 2018, but this seems like a week the see saw should tilt in his favor.

The Northern Irishman’s a two-time winner at the Wells Fargo Championship with both wins displaying what he can do when he’s at his best.

McIlroy fired a then course record 62 on Sunday in 2010 after nearly missing the cut. In 2015, McIlroy blitzed the field by seven shots and broke his own course record by firing 61.

He finished in the top 10 every year from 2012 to 2016 and took T22 at the 2017 PGA Championship.

“I just feel good around here. I don’t know what it is. I’ve shot a couple of really low scores. I’ve got some great memories,” McIlroy said before the 2017 PGA. “I think once you go back to a place where you do have great memories, all that starts to come flooding back to you and it makes you feel good about yourself. That’s sort of how I feel around here.”

McIlroy is 14th in par-5 scoring, first in fairway proximity and first in approaches from 200-225 yards. This is a course that asks for solid long iron play; Rory’s got that in spades.
