Wells Fargo Championship Power Rankings: Top 10 picks for Quail Hollow
Albeit after two weeks off, Patrick Reed didn’t show much post-Masters win malaise last week at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Reed teamed with Patrick Cantlay to tie for seventh and shoot under par all four days.
Some players take months to get back into a groove after winning a major. Something tells me Reed will be back to grinding away real soon.
“…there is nothing like being back out here and getting inside the ropes, playing with the guys, and going out and competing,” Reed said in New Orleans. “Just something I love to do is compete. To be out here back playing and have my partner out here, just go have a good day.”
Reed should particularly like competing at Quail Hollow. He’s made all four cuts here at the Wells Fargo Championship and tied for second at last year’s PGA Championship.
It was his first top-10 in a major and turned out to be a sign of more to come.
Reed has had a great 2018 beyond his Masters win. He owns eight other worldwide top-10s since the start of the 2017-18 season.
His short game (fourth in strokes gained) has been great and he’s in the positive in all strokes gained categories. He’s hitting more types of shots and showing more to his game this year
