Fantasy Golf: Wells Fargo Championship DraftKings Picks
Adam Hadwin’s PGA TOUR career took off in dramatic fashion in 2017, with his first career win at the Valspar Championship. That win earned him a place in the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. While that didn’t end well – Hadwin shot 79-76 (+13) to miss the cut – it did give him his first full taste of major championship play. Considering that Quail Hollow won’t be any tougher this time around, that’s positive experience.
The 30-year-old out of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan has made the cut in all 12 TOUR events he’s played so far this season, and he heads to Charlotte on the heels of four straight top-25 finishes. The track record at Quail Hollow, which includes a T-61 in 2016 as Hadwin’s top finish, is a struggle, but after a few years’ experience, he should start to see significant improvement.
Hadwin’s overall game seems like it would set up fairly well for Quail Hollow, as he ranks 49th in driving accuracy and 24th in greens in regulation. If it weren’t for a balky putter – Hadwin ranks 133rd in strokes gained putting – he could easily have significantly better results this year. That breakthrough will come, because his talent is enough that it’s simply a matter of time.
