Don’t look now, but Chesson Hadley is quietly becoming the breakout player of 2018.

The 30-year-old out of Georgia Tech is currently ranked 70th in the Official World Golf Ranking, but he’s worked his way up to 19th in the FedEx Cup standings. How is he doing it? Well, it doesn’t hurt when you’ve got 14 cuts made in 16 starts, alongside six top-ten finishes. Two of those have come in his last three starts, at the Zurich Classic (T4) and the RBC Heritage (T7).

Hadley’s last start at Quail Hollow came in 2016, when he finished T11 with a wild scorecard of 71-67-76-70. In his career, he’s 2-for-3 in Charlotte, with a tie for 20th in 2015, and his only missed cut in his 2014 debut. Those are some strong numbers, even over a relatively small sample size.

At just $7,500 on DraftKings this week, Hadley is one of those players who has a strong average return on investment. He’s averaged 73.6 fantasy points per start this season, which puts him right on the cusp of the 1:100 point-to-salary ratio. That makes him basically the textbook definition of a player we’re looking for here: possibly lower ownership, but a decent track record and a ton of upside. It doesn’t get much better than that when you’re a fantasy player.
