John Peterson is leading the Wells Fargo Championship after shooting a round one score of  -6 (65)

John Peterson had quite the eventful round yesterday.

It started with three birdies on the back nine, en route to a bogey free 33 and ended with back to

back eagles on holes 7 and 8, both hole outs, one from the bunker and one from the fairway. John’s round of 65 had him one clear of the field after the first day of competition at the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club.

While Peterson’s approach game was absolutely on fire yesterday, but his driving and putting was lacking, losing a little over 1 stroke to the field on the greens. Will he be able to hang on to this lead and contend into the weekend if he doesn’t hole out multiple times? We will have to wait and see, but with the way he finished yesterday it will be a lot of fun to watch.

Who exactly is John Peterson though? Peterson has one of the more unique stories on tour and we will break down 5 things you need to know about him as you watch the first round leader this week.
