This will be Henrik Stenson’s first individual stroke play start since the Masters. That’s OK, because he can seemingly roll out of bed and do well at the PLAYERS.

His most memorable moment may be the time he stripped down to his underwear to hit a shot out of a water hazard in 2009. Countless jokes were made of the emboldened Swede’s move, but Stenson had the last laugh.

His win in 2009 embodied how well he plays at Sawgrass. He tied for third in his debut in 2016 and now has four top-10s and four more top-25s. Last year, Stenson tied for 16th

With his famed 3-wood, Stenson is a marksman around this place.

"“I just like the whole concept of risk and reward. You see pretty clearly what you can do, and if you pull off the shots, you’re going to get rewarded, and if you don’t, you’re going to be in trouble a lot of times,” Stenson said in 2009. “I think it’s a very fair and square golf course in that sense. It just suits my game off the tee.”"

Stenson and Justin Rose surprisingly finished well off the pace together at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans a couple weeks ago.

Playing his own ball, Stenson’s been solid in 2018. He’s got five top-10s worldwide and three finishes inside the top six in his last three starts.

Stenson is first on Tour in greens in regulation, fairway accuracy, scrambling from 10-20 yards and second in sand save percentage. Get the putter rolling reasonably well and Stenson will be off to the races.
