Rickie Fowler provided one of the most exhilarating PLAYERS finishes in 2015. He went an astonishing six-under in the final six holes to force a playoff where he ousted Kevin Kisner and Sergio Garcia.

“It’s a course where if you’re not on top of your game, it will show it,” Fowler said in 2015, “but if you are playing well and ball striking is there, you can get after it a bit.”

Fowler isn’t just blowing smoke. He’s missed three cuts here balanced out by the win and a co-runner-up finish in 2012.

He’s played fairly well going into this week, so I like for him to swing toward the positive side of the spectrum.

Fowler took solo second at the Masters (yet another top-five in a major) and was in contention through 54 holes last week at the Wells Fargo Championship.

He gave away his backup putter to Justin Thomas recently. That’s fine when you can roll in 76-footers like this:

Maybe that will give him renewed confidence as the usually strong putter is 121st on Tour. On the plus side, he’s 26th in strokes gained tee-to-green and is 10th in GIR.

Fowler’s tamed his aggressive style of play from years prior yet is still 19th in par breakers. If he comes in with the right game plan, he may not need a bonkers 2015 stretch to win again.

Hey, speaking of Justin Thomas…
