Matt Kuchar is an interesting case in that he’s so consistent to make the cut and ensure daily fantasy owners that he’ll be racking up stats all four rounds.

On the other hand, it’s a bit confusing how a solid player like Kuchar’s yet to contend this season.

He was on the fringe in Phoenix (T5) and Houston (T8) and showed well at the WGC-Match Play by winning his pool.

Kuchar missed out by two shots to attain his patented backdoor top-10 last week at the PLAYERS (T17). He was under par all four rounds and fired a 66 on Thursday.

His short game stats have been solid this season, and I like the veteran’s imagination to help him get around Trinity Forest this week.

Kuch is a positive in all strokes gained categories save for a minor blip in off-the-tee thanks in part to him sitting 162nd in driving distance. I don’t think this week will be a bomber’s paradise, plus Kuchar’s done well on links courses before (re: 2017 Open Championship).
