Fort Worth Invitational Power Rankings: Top 10 picks for Colonial
Kevin Kisner loves him some Colonial. He’s questing for his fourth consecutive top-10 at the Fort Worth Invitational.
Kisner shot par or better all four rounds and came up unbig with a Sunday 66 to win last year. His 10-under total in 2017 bumps him up to 28-under dating back to 2015.
He tends to play well in his home state of South Carolina at the RBC Heritage. A tournament like this is as close to replicating those conditions.
"“Top 5, if not the best,” Kisner said regarding Colonial’s spot among favorite Tour stops. “I love Hilton Head just because it’s a home game pretty much, but this is just like what I grew up on. Tight, small greens. You got to fit it in windows, not a lot of long irons into holes, which we’ve become accustomed to on the PGA Tour.”"
Unsurprisingly, Kisner tied for seventh at last month’s RBC Heritage and also has a solo runner-up in Texas at the WGC-Dell Match Play.
It’s been a bit of an up and down season for Kisner, but I’d like his chances this week regardless of recent form.
Kisner is 19th in driving accuracy and 12th in strokes gained putting. An average week around the greens might be all it takes to win again.
