Jimmy Walker is a player capable of heating up in a big way. His string of three straight top-10s is reminiscent of his three wins between October 2013 and 2014 or his two wins in two months in 2015.

Add in his 2016 PGA Championship and he’s been one of the low key great players of this decade. It’s great to see he’s regained his form after a debilitating bout with Lyme disease.

Before, he couldn’t so much as string together tournaments. Now he can’t tee it up without finishing near the top of the leaderboard.

Walker took solo fourth at the Valero Texas Open, T2 at The PLAYERS and T6 last week at the Byron Nelson.

The Texan has a reputation for playing well in his home state. Walker is 4-for-4 in cuts made at the Fort Worth Invitational, one being a T10 in 2014.

Apropos of nothing, he hit a bird on one of his drives back in ’14. He and Kelly Kraft are on PETA’s hit list.

Back to the actual golf, Walker can neutralize his lone weakness off the tee with shorter clubs. From the short grass he’s 34th on Tour in proximity. Once on the green, Walker’s 18th in strokes gained putting.

He’s got all facets of his game going and appears close to his first win since the PGA.
