What better place than Wentworth to earn your maiden European Tour win? Spain’s Jorge Campillo has come agonizingly close to finding the winner’s circle, especially in the last four months.

Campillo finished solo second place at February’s Maybank Championship for a career best. That propelled him to a T4 in his next start in Oman, a T5 against a good field at the Spanish Open, a T3 in China and a quarterfinals appearance at last week’s Belgian Knockout where he was the 36-hole stroke play leader.

In short, Campillo is one of the hottest hands on the circuit right now. He’s rattled off six made cuts in a row and hasn’t finished worse than T46 in that span.

Campillo’s made his last four cuts at the BMW PGA including a T15 in 2016.

He’s reasonably long and accurate off the tee. If he can get the ball in play, Campillo’s going to find Wentworth’s small greens for a good share of birdie tries (16th on the European Tour in GIR).

Campillo’s also 13th in strokes gained putting.

If you’re looking for a pick away from the household names, Campillo is a strong choice to break through this week.
