Only more surprising than Byeong Hun An’s surprise win at the 2015 BMW PGA Championship was the way he pulled it off. The 23-year-old came within one shot of the tournament aggregate record, carding a 21-under 267 to wallop the field by six shots.

He began Sunday with a share of the lead and played spectacular golf down the stretch to close it out. Since, An has made two more cuts at Wentworth (T33 and T24) and is a cumulative 31-under in three starts.

“When I play the course, I feel really comfortable and I know where to hit and where to not hit,” An said in 2016. “It feels a bit different than me going to other events I think. I feel really relaxed.”

An’s had a productive 2018 season. He has three worldwide top-10s with two coming on the PGA Tour.

An’s made his last five cuts and nine of the last 10.

On the PGA Tour where he primarily plays, An is 24th in scoring average and 28th in strokes gained approaching the green.

He’ll come in with a week of rest after a T30 at the PLAYERS Championship.
