Fantasy Golf: DraftKings picks for the Fort Worth Invitational
Full disclosure incoming: I am a huge Steve Stricker fan in general. He is at a point in his career where he can basically pick and choose where and when he plays. That also makes him relatively dangerous every time he does tee it up, because not only is he the furthest thing from “burned out”, but he also comes in as well-prepared as anybody can.
Take a look at Stricker’s PGA TOUR Champions record this year, for example. In his second year on that circuit, he’s five-for-five with two wins, two runner-up finishes, and a single tie for fifth. In the middle of all this, he plays a select schedule on the PGA TOUR, where he’s four-for-six with a pair of top-25s. Basically, when he plays, he typically plays very well.
What does that mean for you this week at Colonial? Only good things. Stricker has a fantastic record at Hogan’s Alley, and that should continue in 2018. He won here in 2009, and he hasn’t missed a cut in his four starts after that. Last year – again, his first year splitting time on the Champions Tour – he finished tied for seventh, shooting a sparkling 63 in the final round.
Stricker is a master at picking his spots, and he’s executing when he does. He flies under the radar far more than he should, but that’s going to play to your advantage in DraftKings daily fantasy. $7,900 is not a big risk to take, with the potential for a huge reward.
