Kevin Kisner is a bit of a dark horse this week, and that’s totally understandable. I don’t normally love picking a guy who’s coming in off two missed cuts, but if he’s going to get back on track, there’s no better place than Colonial.

It doesn’t hurt, of course, that he’s the defending champion. Any time you can get a recent winner in your lineup, that’s a good thing. But Kisner was trending toward that big week for years before. After a missed cut in his 2014 debut at Colonial, he’s strung together three straight top-ten finishes at Hogan’s Alley. Per Rob Bolton of PGATOUR.com, Kisner averaged a score of 67.67 during those 12 rounds. He’s got Colonial figured out, and that trend doesn’t look like it’s going to stop anytime soon.

One of the most interesting things to look at is Kisner’s relative finish in his cuts made. Although he’s missed five of his 14 cuts this year, he’s got six top-25s and a trio of top-tens in the other nine events. In other words, when he’s good, he’s really good. When he’s not, well, he’ll have an early head start on the next week.

At $8,100 on DraftKings this week, I think Kisner is a huge value. Just look at last year’s lead-up to Colonial for the bigger picture. He came in after missing the cut at the Wells Fargo and putting up a poor performance at THE PLAYERS. Sound familiar after these past few weeks? It was the same story in 2016 – this is a trend, and one that bodes well for Kisner in the days ahead.
