If it weren’t for the next guy in our rankings, Zach Johnson would be a solid guy at No. 1 in my lineup. He hasn’t missed a cut all year, and of his 14 paydays, eight have been top-25 finishes. No, Johnson didn’t have a great week at The PLAYERS Championship, but he did have a top-five finish in his last solo start before that, at the Valero Texas Open.

Johnson will look to keep that Lone Star feeling going this week at Hogan’s Alley, where his game fits the course as perfectly as you can imagine. How perfectly? Try a perfect streak of 12 cuts made in 12 career starts. One of just eleven multi-time winners in the history of Colonial, Johnson also holds the career money record here – no surprise when you look at how many times he’s cashed in.

Johnson brings his usual well-rounded game into Fort Worth this week, and that will serve him well in his mission to go for a third Colonial championship. So far in the 2017-18 PGA TOUR season, Johnson ranks 20th in adjusted scoring, and he’s doing it without any real “magical” performances.

Johnson’s iron game has been surgical this year, and he leads the TOUR in proximity to the hole on approach. So, really, he doesn’t have to drain 60-footers for birdie, when he’s averaging less than 35 feet. It’s the formula that’s worked so well in years past, and it will continue this week. At $8,500, Johnson is an absolute steal on DraftKings. Roster him and don’t look back.
