Italian Open Power Rankings: Top ten picks at Gardagolf
The star power in these rankings begin to grow with Hatton. In a logjam, Hatton draws the short straw at No. 7 due to a mini slump while splitting time between the U.S. and Europe.
Hatton’s missed three of his last four cuts and has fared no better than T42 in his last five outings while dealing with a wrist injury.
“I’ve had the weekend to carry on practicing and trying to feel comfortable again,” Hatton told the media. “It’s gradually getting there, I’m pain-free which is a good thing so now I can play pain free I can try and get comfortable again and hopefully I can play some good golf.”
If we’ve learned anything, though, it’s that Hatton can turn things around in a hurry. He was in a longer funk last summer before revitalizing himself.
Hatton closed 2017 with two wins and placed T19 or better in eight straight events. That fine form carried into 2018 where he racked up four top-20s in his first six starts.
Hatton is the defending tournament champion after reaching 21-under to win by one last year at Milano.
The ball striking has remained a constant. Hatton is 25th in strokes gained tee to green and 43rd in approaches.
