FedEx St. Jude Classic Power Rankings: Top 10 picks for TPC Southwind
Adam Scott enters this week in jeopardy of snapping an impressive streak. The Aussie has played in 67 straight major championships dating back to 2001.
That could come to an end if he doesn’t advance through Monday’s sectional qualifying or if he doesn’t climb to No. 60 or higher in the world rankings after this week. He sits in 64th.
Scott is at least coming to a course where he’s had success, albeit in a small sample size.
Scott finished solo seventh at the 2007 FedEx St. Jude and a decade later was T10.
In 2018, Scott recently finished T9 at the Byron Nelson and T11 at the PLAYERS. He’s made 10 of 12 cuts but has not been able to get into contention like we’re used to seeing him.
Scott is swinging it beautifully still. He’s third in greens in regulation and sixth in strokes gained tee to green. It doesn’t take a lot of digging to see why he’s struggling: 192nd in strokes gained putting.
Fortunately, if he’s able to be precise with his irons this week, he shouldn’t face too many crazy long putts.
