When it comes to Matt Jones, consider the start of this particular ranking as both your high-value picks, as well as one (deep) sleeper. The 38-year-old Aussie journeyman has only made about half of his cuts this year (seven in 13 starts), but he’s also coming off his best finish of the season.

Three weeks ago at the AT&T Byron Nelson, Jones was 13-under through three rounds. Only a handful of shots off the lead, he closed with a final-round 71. That was good for level par on a day when the leaders were all several shots under, but he was still able to pull off a tie for 13th place. Not bad for an “off” day.

After a brief break from competition, Jones returns at TPC Southwind, a course where he’s enjoyed a good deal of success in recent years. He finished T-18 last year, T-26 in 2016, and a season high third-place tie in 2015. It’s a strong run for a player who had long struggled at the classic Memphis track.

Performance-wise, Jones has a much more solid game than his results would lead you to believe at first glance. He’s currently 47th on TOUR in greens in regulation, and 36th in birdie average. A nasty bogey habit has cost him some better finishes this year, but considering how well he’s handled Southwind’s challenges, that shouldn’t be a big problem this week.

At just $6,900 on DraftKings, Jones has a ton of upside, and he’ll give you plenty of room to spend higher up the roster.
