The pros have Strackaline to help them read greens, but you don’t.  Now, using Putt Breaks, you might have the next best thing.

Putt Breaks is a phone app that shows every break on every green.  It should help save you from a few three or four putts.  What’s better than that?

Putt Breaks was created by the founder of GolfLogix, Pete Charleston. GolfLogix is a GPS and course mapping service that you access with your phone.  After he mastered mapping courses, greens were the next sensible thing.

Putt Breaks shows you the slope of the terrain based on where your ball is sitting on the green.  It doesn’t show a track for the putt, but it does show a bunch of arrows that indicate where the ball will go from any spot on the green.  It changes depending on where your ball is sitting, so if you miss that first putt, you can look at the arrows for the second putt.

According to Charleston, “Approach View” on the app even helps you plan where to land your approach shot on the green, based on the green slopes. Those who are already members of GolfLogix already get unlimited access to Putt Breaks, but you can subscribe to just Putt Breaks.  It will work for you if you are not using the GPS app. Putt Breaks runs $4.49/month or $29.99 for 12 months.
