Travelers Championship Power Rankings: Top 10 at TPC River Highlands
Don’t let a disappointing week at the U.S. Open fool you. Jason Day is having a phenomenal year and will be eager to arrive to a gettable course like TPC River Highlands.
He’s eighth in birdie average, first in sand saves and is seventh in par-4 scoring. Plus, he’s relatively straight for a long hitter and can still gain an advantage off the tee with his length on this short course.
Day is seventh in strokes gained on bentgrass greens since 2014 according to Future of Fantasy.
Day tied for 27th as a youngster in 2008, tied for 18th and missed the cut last year. He did not come to Connecticut during the height of his powers in 2015 and 2016, so it’ll be fun to see what he can do when he’s playing well like he is now.
Ironically, Day’s last MC before the U.S. Open was last year’s Travelers. Since then, he’s won at Torrey Pines and Quail Hollow and has a T5 at TPC Sawgrass and a T20 at Augusta National.
This is just his third start since the PLAYERS and with last weekend off, I expect him to get back on the horse quickly.
