It takes a pretty solid field for me to put a guy who’s placed top-25 in 16 straight tournaments at No. 3.

Justin Thomas wasn’t on the radar screen much last week at the U.S. Open, but to his credit he kept a good attitude and grinded out a T25 to extend his streak that dates back to September.

He’s got a win at the Hero World Challenge and the Honda Classic to show for it, as well as a runner-up at the WGC-Mexico and solo fourth at the WGC-Match Play.

Thomas finished T30 in his TPC River Highlands debut in 2013 and was T3 in 2016. He carded a Sunday 62 in ’16.

"“It’s short, so if you’re driving it well, you’re going to have short irons in your hands, and you give us short irons and you’re going to see some low numbers,” Thomas said in 2016. “I feel like off the tee is a premium. You’ve got to make sure you’re hitting the fairways and hitting the greens. It’s starting to get a little bit firmer out there, but it’s a great setup, I think.”"

Thomas is well in the positive in every major strokes gained category. He’s second tee-to-green and fourth overall.

He’s fourth in par-4 scoring and 21st in sand saves. This will be just his third start since the PLAYERS, so post-U.S. Open fatigue may not be a huge factor.
