Thomas Pieters is cashing checks often these days. He just wished they were worth a little more.

He’s only trunk slammed twice in 12 starts in 2018, but his T5 in Abu Dhabi to open his year remains his best finish.

The Belgian has three top-25s but seven finishes between 32nd and 66th.

Pieters showed some good signs with a T14 in his last start two weeks ago at the Rolex Series event, the Italian Open. He posted four straight rounds in the 60s including an opening 65.

The big hitter can take advantage of the gettable par-5s this week if he can hone in his driver. Despite sitting 261st on the European Tour in driving accuracy, the 26-year-old is 19th in strokes gained on approaches.

This will be Pieters’ second appearance at Gut Laerchenhof.
