Alexander Bjork is making his debut here at Gut Laerchenhof. His sophomore season is going so well that he’s made himself into a weekly favorite.

The 28-year-old Swede won his first European Tour event at the Volvo China Open as part of three top-10s in 11 starts. He’s missed just three cuts and only one since the beginning of March.

His bogey-free 65 to win in China showed a lot of mettle from a guy not far removed from three straight seasons on the Challenge Tour.

Bjork isn’t the greatest driver of the golf ball, but wide fairways should help him out this week. With an iron in his hand, he’s much better, coming in at second in strokes gained on approaches on the European Tour as well as 22nd in SG tee to green.

Bjork is also 19th in scrambling.

He is coming off of two weeks of rest, which could give him an advantage over those making the trip from New York.
