Joaquin Niemann is the best teenager in the world. Before long, the qualifier “teenager” might not be needed.

The 19-year-old Chilean professional and former world No. 1 amateur is gaining attention. He’s made the most of limited PGA Tour starts in 2018, collecting three top-10s in seven tries.

Niemann finished solo sixth at the Texas Open, T8 at Colonial and T6 at the Memorial.

He’ll be one of the more rested players in the field having not played the last two weeks.

Niemann achieved one of his goals earlier this month by earning special temporary Tour membership after his finish at the Memorial earned him enough FedEx Cup points. He can now take advantage of as many sponsor’s exemptions as he’d like the rest of the season.

A solo seventh this week would be enough for Niemann to have as many unofficial FedEx Cup points as the No. 125 player last year, meaning he’s got a good shot to lock up a PGA Tour card in 2018-19.

Niemann not only has the firepower to rack up another top-10, but to win.

He doesn’t have enough starts to render official PGA Tour stats. When he’s playing well, though, he’s piling up greens in regulation and putting well. He’s not long by today’s standards, but he gets it out there well enough to hit manageable clubs on second shots.
