Open de France Power Rankings: Top 10 players at Le Golf National
I’m back on the Tommy Fleetwood bandwagon for the second week in a row. It didn’t pay off last week as the Englishman came down to earth with a T59, but he’s coming back to a site of success in Le Golf National.
Tommy Fleetwood posted an impressive Sunday 66 to lock up the Open de France by one shot at 12-under.
On Saturday, the well-known ball striker displayed his short game skills to hang in and shoot 71 on a tough day for scoring.
That type of versatility is why he’s playing as well as anyone right now. Fleetwood won earlier this year in Abu Dhabi as part of five top-10s worldwide in 2018. We all know what he’s capable of after his Sunday 63 earned him solo second at the U.S. Open.
If you’re looking for a pick for Carnoustie, keep in mind Fleetwood has placed inside the top 30 in four of the last five majors.
Fleetwood is 12th on the PGA Tour in strokes gained tee-to-green and doesn’t have a weak club in his bag. He’s already a lock for the European Ryder Cup team, but he can get some good vibes heading into September with a win this week.
