Open de France Power Rankings: Top 10 players at Le Golf National
Don’t look now, but Matt Wallace is 12th in the European Ryder Cup points list. That places him ahead of stalwarts Henrik Stenson, Sergio Garcia and Ian Poulter.
That’s because Wallace is making mince meat of the competition as a sophomore on the European Tour.
The Englishman, who at this point two years ago was playing the Alps Tour, has won twice in his last eight starts at the Indian Open and last week at the BMW International Open.
Wallace has made four of his last five cuts including a T3 at the China Open and a T20 at the BMW PGA Championship.
"“….I work hard. I work for this. I believe I can do it. I want to go further,” Wallace said after his BMW International Open win. “I want to keep building on this. Obviously gives me a lot of confidence to go on and play well and I want to kick on and hopefully do this in the bigger events from now on.”"
Wallace has only teed it up in two majors (2016 and 2017 U.S. Open) and no WGCs, so this busy time of the schedule will show us a lot of what he’s made of.
He’s got a good overall game and led last week’s field in Greens in Regulation in a windy, tough test. If he leads that stat again, I like his chances in Paris.
