The defending champion, Xander Schauffele has continually proved his first win as a rookie at the Greenbrier was no fluke.

He backed it up with a bevy of high finishes in 2016-17, including a win at the Tour Championship.

The X Man is back at again this season with three top-10s, including a T6 at the U.S. Open and a T2 at the PLAYERS.

The 24-year-old has a well-rounded game beyond his years as, save for a -.002 mark in strokes gained around the green, he’s a positive in the main SG categories.

While playing in his fifth straight week, Schauffele shot 64-69-66-67 to take the title last year. He used all facets of his game, nearing the top of the field in driving distance, GIR and in SG putting where he gained roughly five strokes on the field.

He’ll be more rested this time around with a week off before the U.S. Open and also last week.

Schauffele is 14th in the American Ryder Cup points list. One more win could get him to Paris, and this might be his best chance.
