Independence Day is a time for Americans to celebrate their freedom, and all the joys that come with it. For golf fans, it doesn’t get any better than these five moments over the past 20 years.

The Fourth of July, Independence Day, is a special day for all Americans. It’s a time to reflect on the progress of nearly 250 years of history. It’s a time to gather with friends and family and appreciate the freedoms that so many have fought to provide for our future. And just for fun, it’s a great time for golfers and fans to look back on some great moments for Team USA.

Of course, there are far too many great moments for us to pick from over the last, say, 80 or 100 years. This Fourth of July, we’re looking back on some of the best moments of the last 20 years, around the turn of the century.

We’ve got the Ryder Cup, the Presidents Cup, and even a return to the Olympics. We’ve witnessed the rise of superstars, and more than a few one-hit wonders. We’ve seen moments of marvelous triumph, and times of equal – or greater – heartbreak.

That’s the nature of this great sport we love, but over the past couple of decades, we’ve seen a lot more good than bad in the world of golf. Here are five of my favorite moments in Team USA golf. What are your favorites? Let us know in the comments below, or on Twitter @ProGolfNow.
