The defending Irish Open champion Jon Rahm earns the top spot this week. The Spaniard has already won on the PGA Tour (CareerBuilder Challenge) and on the European Tour (Open de Espana) in 2018.

The defending Race to Dubai champion also has a solo second at the PGA Tour Tournament of Champions, a solo fourth at the Masters and T5s recently at Colonial and last week at the Open de France.

Rahm took advantage of benign conditions to win at 24-under at Londonderry. Not thought of as a top links player, per se, it will be seen if Rahm can devise a good game plan this week.

He’s second on the PGA Tour in strokes gained off the tee, albeit mostly due to his length. Rahm is 13th in GIR and a modest 60th in both strokes gained around the green and putting.

It’s hard to argue anyone in the field is coming in on better, more consistent form than Rahm. In a playoff against home favorite McIlroy, the fiery Spaniard will prevail this week. Book it.
