The Open Championship: Power ranking the top 10 for Carnoustie
The Justin Rose golfing machine keeps churning.
The Englishman finished T9 last week at the Scottish Open for his fourth straight top-10 and eighth top-25 in his last nine starts.
In that stretch he won the Fort Worth Invitational.
His last missed cut? The 2017 PGA Championship.
Rose has played as well as anyone dating back to last fall when he won three times in seven starts.
He is 27th or better in all the main strokes gained categories to sit second overall on the PGA Tour. He’s 11th in strokes gained tee to green and seventh in SG putting.
Rose is also fifth in sand saves and fourth between 100-125 yards.
Now, the goal is to get it done at the Open Championship. Surprisingly, his T4 as an amateur in 1998 is his best finish at this event.
"“I have had Opens where I’ve had good opportunities and been very close to playing very well, so it’s not all a loss for me,” Rose was quoted by the BBC. “It is not as though I can’t play this style of golf; I’ve won the Scottish Open before and played well in the Dunhill Links in the past.”"
At the Dunhill Links, Rose finished solo second in 2007 where he shot a 69 at Carnoustie. Earlier that year he tied for 12th at the Open where he bounced back beautifully from a opening 75.
