The British Open is one of the toughest championships to handicap. The field is ultra-deep, the weather is unpredictable, and the courses are among the toughest on this planet. However, for the avid fantasy golf player, that actually can work in your favor.

How is that? For one, the depth of the field means there can be a ton of value at all salary levels. Where many PGA TOUR events are top-heavy, with just four or five “top guys”, the Open Championship is basically filled with them. DraftKings can’t assign every player a $10,000 salary, so you get to go value-hunting.

Then there’s the search for stats. Each course in the Open rota has its own unique personality, and Carnoustie is no different. This week, the fairways are extremely fast and dry, meaning that even shorter players will be able to play a bit of catch-up, when they might not be able to in wetter weeks.
