RBC Canadian Open: Power ranking the top 10 at Glen Abbey
Sunday at the 2017 Canadian Open was a roller coaster ride for Charley Hoffman. He was the 54-hole leader until Jhonattan Vegas caught fire to overtake the lead.
Needing to rally, Hoffman birdied 16 and 18. His eagle putt to win on the last slid just by, leading to a playoff with Vegas. Hoffman was unable to make another birdie at 18, giving Vegas the trophy.
Hoffman has a great track record at Glen Abbey, posting a T28 in 2008, T16 in 2013, T7 in 2015 and solo second last year. He’s 33-under in his last 144 holes here.
The Californian is having a solid, albeit unspectacular year. He’s missed just four cuts (and a WD) in 2017-18 and has 10 top-25s.
He finished solo second at the Hero World Challenge, but otherwise has yet to finish higher than T12 (Masters). He’s finished inside the top 20 at all three majors.
Hoffman plays well from the rough and is solid between 125-175 yards.
Coming off four straight top-20s, Hoffman is ever so close to getting in the mix late on a Sunday. Glen Abbey could be where he turns it around.
