Can I have “PGA Tour players due for a win” for $500, Alex?

Tony Finau has wowed us with his consistent play in the majors, his long drives with a short swing and the ability to top-20 in a major on a bum ankle.

The big Utahan can do it all except win these days.

The 2016 Puerto Rico Open champ has 11 top-10s worldwide since 2017. One of them came last year in a T5 at the Canadian Open.

He was one of just six players to shoot four rounds in the 60s and was just three shots from a playoff.

If Glen Abbey plays soft again like it did it last year, Finau’s chances should rise even further.

"“You can play aggressive this year because of how soft it is. Fairways are a premium here,” Finau said in 2017. “Sometimes you can get away with hitting it in the rough and still be able to attack the flag. I think that’s why you see a lot of good scores. I knew it was there for the taking.”"

Finau is 3-for-3 overall in cuts made at Glen Abbey and was T22 in 2015.

He comes into this week with eight made cuts in his last nine events and all but one were T24 or higher. Finau was fifth at the US Open and T9 last week at the Open.

If he can just get the putter figured out (126th strokes gained), he’s 42nd or better in the rest of the main strokes gained categories.

Finau is third in driving distance and 25th in proximity from the rough, so expect him to try to bite off as much as he can this week.
