Porsche European Open: Top 10 picks for Green Eagle
The defending Porsche European Open champion Jordan Smith showed poise to win in a playoff over Alexander Levy.
Smith was the 54-hole leader but never had a big lead on Sunday. He had to birdie two of his final four holes to ensure a playoff.
Smith played well in all facets: seventh in driving accuracy, third in driving distance, 15th in greens in regulation and 17th in putts per round.
This year, Smith finished T3 at the China Open and T8 at the Italian Open, a Rolex Series event. In the Rolex Series of late, Smith also was T21 at the Open de France and T32 at the Scottish Open.
He is accurate off the tee (39th) and with his irons (27th in greens in regulation). If he can stick it close this week and be near the top in birdie tries, he’ll have a good shot to defend his title with class.
