Harold Varner III has been on a strong run lately, and I’m looking for him to keep that streak alive this week at the RBC Canadian Open. It’s a bit of a mixed bag for Varner coming to Glen Abbey, to be fair. He played six straight events in June and July, narrowly missing on qualifying for the Open. Despite missing the cut at the U.S. Open and the Travelers, he bounced back in a big way with back-to-back top tens at the Greenbrier and the John Deere.

In his last 12 rounds, Varner has shot in the 60s nine times, with a 64 and a pair of 65s thrown in for good measure. He also ranked 15th in greens in regulation at TPC Deere Run. He was third in the field in greens in regulation at Greenbrier.

Varner’s overall putting hasn’t been quite as good, but if he keeps giving himself looks, birdies are bound to keep falling. And especially in DraftKings fantasy golf, where birdies are rewarded far more than bogeys are punished, that’s exactly what you’re looking for.

That’s not to say there’s no risk here, of course. The 27-year-old out of East Carolina has missed nine cuts in 24 starts this year, including two in his last five starts. But Varner did finish in the top-25 here last year, posting a 7-under 65 in the second round. At $7,100 on DraftKings, he’s too good of a value to miss.
