RBC Canadian Open Adam Hadwin DraftKings Fantasy Golf
SOUTHAMPTON, NY – JUNE 14: Adam Hadwin of Canada looks on from the 11th tee during the first round of the 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club on June 14, 2018 in Southampton, New York. (Photo by Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images) /

O, Canada! The Canadian Open may not have a high profile in the States, especially considering the position on the schedule immediately after the Open Championship. However, it’s especially important to citizens of the Great North, and Hadwin comes into this week as the host nation’s highest-ranked player in the field.

The 30-year-old out of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan (I love that town’s name and will use it whenever I can) hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire, but he’s been a made cut machine. With 20 starts under his belt in 2017-18, Hadwin has made the weekend 19 times, with a tough start at Shinnecock the only week he’s missed the pay window.

Hadwin has had his share of struggles, to be fair, but he’s as familiar with Glen Abbey as anybody. He peaked with a top-ten finish here in 2015, bouncing back from an opening round 74 to tie for seventh place.

Adam Hadwin won’t blow anybody away statistically, but he’s been a steady ball striker this season. If he can just get the putter going – he ranks just 113th on the PGA TOUR in strokes gained putting – then he could make some noise.

What you’re looking for out of Hadwin at the RBC Canadian Open is four solid rounds with minimal bogeys. He should produce in that regard, and if you’re looking for a sleeper candidate, I’m looking for a spot on my roster for him.
