Robert Garrigus has had some nice rounds recently. If he can string a few together in the same week, he’ll pick up career win No. 2 eventually.

Garrigus’ T22 last week at the RBC Canadian Open doesn’t jump off the page, but his opening 63 gave him the 18-hole lead and showed what the 40-year-old still has left in the tank.

He also tied for 66th two weeks ago at the Barbasol Championship but was under par each of his first three rounds before imploding on Sunday.

"“Even though I shot a million on Sunday between the two days, and after 36 last week in Kentucky, I just felt like there was something coming, and I kept telling my wife, I kept telling my agent,” Garrigus said in Canada after his 63."

Garrigus has played well in Reno before.

He owns three top-10s and has made the cut in each of his eight starts at Montreaux. The only time he fared worse than T38 was his debut in 2006 (75th).

Garrigus tied for sixth in 2017 and was at 40 points (44 was enough to make a playoff) with nine holes to play before leveling off.

He has one top-10 (T8, Farmers Insurance Open) as part of seven top-30s this season.

Garrigus is 21st in driving distance and once led the PGA Tour. He’ll have lots of short clubs in his hands this week.
