Just three years after winning the WGC-Bridgestone, Lowry wasn’t able to make it back to Firestone this year. Instead, he makes his Barracuda Championship debut as the second highest-ranked player in the field.

The Northern Irishman has six top-30s worldwide in 2018 and has made 13 of 18 cuts.

He’s coming off a T12 last week at the RBC Canadian Open, his best finish of the year. Lowry was 14-under-par on the week and had three rounds in the 60s.

Lowry is seeking to regain his vaunted putting stroke to turn these top-30s into higher finishes. He was 10th in strokes gained putting in 2016-17 and is no 170th.

This year, his approaches (66th in strokes gained) and work off the tee (69th SG) have helped him most.

He’s split his time between the PGA Tour and European Tour this season. He doesn’t have as many starts on the PGA Tour as most of his contemporaries, but Lowry’s got to make a move to get into the FedEx Cup playoffs.

A win this week would do the trick.
