PGA Championship Power Rankings: Top 10 picks for Bellerive
Can a resurgent season for Jason Day culminate in hoisting the Wanamaker Trophy for the second time? The 2015 PGA Champion is playing the best we’ve seen since the buildup to his win at Whistling Straits.
The 2015 PGA was his fifth win that season. Now in 2018, Day owns a win at the Farmers Insurance Open and Wells Fargo Championship. He has just one missed cut, which doubles as his only finish worse than T44.
Day was also T2 at Pebble Beach, T5 at the PLAYERS Championship and comes into Bellerive off of a T12-T17-T10 streak.
The Australian is revered for his ability to vaporize a golf ball, but his work around the greens deserves a lot of the credit for bouncing back from a winless 2017.
Day leads the Tour in strokes gained around the green as well as strokes gained putting. He’s nails from short range, leading in putts inside 10 feet (90.77 percent).
Day is also eighth in birdie average and eighth in par-4 scoring.
His proximity hasn’t been elite this year, but he’s sure to hit a lot of these big Bellerive greens. He’s proven he knows how to handle the rest.
