Short of winning them all, Brooks Koepka’s done plenty to show he’s capable of contending at every major championship.

The American has finished top-15 at the last four PGA Championships and has made all five cuts. He has two top-fives including a T4 in 2016.

Koepka’s finished T39 or better in each of his last 14 majors dating back to 2014. In that span, Koepka six top-10s including the 2017 and 2018 U.S. Opens.

Coming into this week, Koepka spun three rounds in the 60s at the WGC-Bridgestone to finish solo fifth.

"“It was as good as I’ve hit it in my pro career. I don’t think I’ve ever driven it as well as I did,” Koepka said of his week at Firestone. “My iron play was fantastic, yardage control was great. The greens, I mean, I can’t tell you how many lip-outs I’ve had."

He missed the cut in his prior start at the Canadian Open, but I generally take results the week after overseas travel with a grain of salt.

It snapped his very impressive streak of 19 worldwide cuts made in a row. This summer, Koepka finished solo second at Colonial and was top-20 at Hartford.

On Tour, Koepka is actually an outlier in that he’s not high on the strokes gained approach rankings. In fact, he’s 171st.

Seems crazy, but he’s doing plenty of damage off the tee (20th in strokes gained) and is 19th in fairway proximity.

He’s also 39th in scrambling and is an above average putter.

Koepka, 28, has found a way to get in the right head space for these big time events for years now. I expect nothing less this week at Bellerive.
