Thorbjorn Olesen PGA Championship DraftKings Fantasy Golf

Thorbjorn Olesen has been on quite the hot streak over the last two months, and he earns the title of “best low-priced player” in this week’s highlights. Seriously, at just $6,700 on DraftKings, there’s almost no such thing as a “bad” pick. But to get a guy who just won the Italian Open in June – over Francesco Molinari, no less – at that price? You’d be foolish to pass him up.

The 28-year-old Dane went on to finish tied for 12th at The Open behind Molinari, just one more highlight in what is turning into quite the summer for him. In Olesen’s last six worldwide starts since winning at Gardagolf, he’s finished in the top 15 four times, with a pair of missed cuts at Shinnecock and Paris the only two blemishes. He was tied for runner-up at the BMW International Open a week after the U.S. Open, and tied for sixth at the Irish Open after a tough week in Paris.

In short, even when Olesen’s been down, he’s bounced back quickly. And right now, he’s decidedly not down.

One of the big things I’m looking for in a fantasy player this week is driving. Bellerive may not demand a bomber’s ability when it’s playing fast and dry, but that won’t be the case this week. Olesen can do both well, as he demonstrated last week at Firestone, ranking fifth in driving distance and 40th in the field in accuracy. He also tied for eighth in greens in regulation (51 of 72) and ninth in strokes gained putting.

Don’t be surprised to see Olesen challenging for yet another big finish in his sixth career PGA Championship, and bringing your fantasy golf lineup along for the ride.
