When Sergio Garcia won the 2012 Wyndham Championship, it ended a four-year PGA Tour win drought. If he wins again this week, it’ll end a similar drought stemming back to the 2017 Masters.

He’s taken some heat for not bringing the heat in 2018, but he does have a win at the Singapore Open on the Asian Tour and four other worldwide top-10s in just 17 starts.

Garcia is coming off a missed cut at the PGA Championship, which gives him all the more time to prepare for a course he’s carved up in three trips.

The 38-year-old Spaniard finished solo fourth at Sedgefield in 2009 and was T29 in his last start in 2013.

"“I’ve liked it since ’98 when I played what was a Web.com Tour in that year,” Garcia said in 2013. “For whatever reason I feel great comfortable on it. I like the looks of the course. I like the way it plays.”"

Garcia is still his usual self with his irons (14th in strokes gained on approaches) and has been above average around the greens. He’s had some issues with the putter, but this week’s greens shouldn’t pose too tough of a challenge.

It looks like perhaps a top-50 (or better) is needed to crack the top 125, but I envision Garcia qualifying for the FedEx Cup Playoffs with ease thanks to a high finish.
