Joaquin Niemann made the cut in his first major championship as a professional last week at the PGA Championship. A T71 finish didn’t set the world on fire, but the fact that a 19-year-old just made his fifth cut in a row is noteworthy.

This week is an anomaly, too, because the Chilean is usually closer to the top of the board. He earned himself a full Tour card for 2018-19 thanks to four top-10s and two more top-25s in limited starts.

Niemann is a great iron player and gains over a stroke per round on the field on his approaches. His flexibility allows him to sling it far off the tee despite his small stature.

It seems like just a matter of time until Niemann wins his first event. Against a relatively weak field, it seems very possible before he hits his 20s.
